If you are a suspect or the accused of a criminal act you have the right to the advice of a defense lawyer in every stage in the procedure. In many cases it can be wise to seek this advice prior to a police interrogation or a legal interrogation. Usually you may choose the lawyer you wish to defend you.
We provide legal assistance through the entire process, from the investigations, through the preparations for case and during the main hearing in court.
Coverage of defense counsel
In some cases you are required to cover the legal costs of a defense lawyer yourself. In general this is the case whilst the suit is with the police/prosecuting authority. As the trial goes to court the Public Authority will cover the expenses. However, there is a range of exceptions to this, for example with remand in custody: The suit is then under investigation, and yet a defense attorney will be appointed on the Public Authority’s expense from the session where you are presented for remand in custody.

Offended in a criminal case
If you have been exposed to sexual assault or violence, you have a right to an attorney that will attend to your rights. The police will clarify whether you are entitled to a defense lawyer covered by the Public Authority. The principal rule is that you are allowed to choose your own lawyer.
