 Children and spouse are to a certain degree secured through legislation. Beyond this you decide yourself who is to succeed to your property. This must be done through a will of which the requirements to the design are particular.
If you do not have parents, siblings, nephews or nieces your property will be handed over to the Government unless your will states otherwise. Cohabiters do not inherit from each other by law and will have to make specific wills to succeed one another.
